The Southbank area is home to many interesting local spots as well as the traditional tourist attractions. Today we headed out for a walk covering ground on the south checking out the Tower Bridge, London eye and surrounding streets. We chose not to spend time riding the eye as there are plenty of opportunities to see the skyline for other points.
Located in the base of Tower Bridge, The Vault was a great find. A small venue with a lively local attitude.
The market is a mix of shops providing great culinary delights and locations to have a pint and people watch. With coverage between buildings it makes for a great experience during inclement weather conditions. I love these spaces.
You could pass Talbot Court – an essay in concrete that looks like a loading bay – a hundred times and never notice The Ship tucked on an inside corner just a hundred yards down where the slabwork gives way to a traditional London yard.
It’s a gem. Rebuilt in the 17th century after the original ale house was incinerated in the Great Fire, it’s smallish, simple and comfortable offering decent ales and a wide food menu.
The excitement of the shot, capturing the slice of time that will no longer be there. What I produce, I am selfish about. It’s not always what everyone else does, but it is what I want.
