Arriving in Venice at the Marco Polo airport I met with the other adventurous photographers that I was joining for this week. From here we loaded up the vans and headed into the heart of the Dolomites taking a cable car up to the rifugio or refuge in English. From here there is a 360 degree view of the Dolomites as we rest in the 2750 meter elevation (9022 ft). For those of us that normally dwell in close to sea level in Florida, this altitude can present a challenge adjusting to the thin air.

It turned out to be quite windy and cloudy for the sunrise, however the views were still stunning.

Next we’ll switchback down and check out the valley beneath us.
